Joyce Smith is a partner in Baker McKenzie’s International Commercial and IP Tech Practice Groups and a member of the Firm’s Global Executive Committee and North America Regional Council. She is also a member of the Firm’s Global Inclusion & Diversity Committee and North America Inclusion & Diversity Committee. Joyce advises innovative companies in multiple jurisdictions and industries ranging from start-ups to multinational, Fortune 100 companies in the technology, health care and life sciences industries. She focuses on commercial,
IP and compliance issues relating to international expansion and cross-border commercial and technology transactions, and restructurings, including IP migrations, post-acquisition integrations, supply-chain and tax restructurings, carve-outs and M&A.
In 2021 she received the Rainmaker Award from the Minority Corporate Counsel Association; in 2018 and 2022 was named one of the Most Influential Black Lawyers by Savoy Magazine; and in 2014 and 2022 was named one of the Women Leaders in Tech Law by The Recorder. She is an alumna of University of California, Berkeley School of Law, Georgetown University, and Nijenrode University in Amsterdam.
